Sven AlthoffNon-Executive Chairman, Argenta Holdings LimitedSven was appointed as Non-Executive Chairman of Argenta Holdings Limited effective from the 6th September 2017.
Sven studied at Leibniz University in Hannover, Germany and obtained his Master’s Degree in Economics in 1993. In the same year, he joined Hannover Re’s P&C Treaty Reinsurance team responsible for business emanating from North America. In 1998 Sven joined the Marine department as a senior underwriter and subsequently became responsible for the worldwide Marine and Aviation business from 2000. In 2003 his responsibilities were further extended to include all classes of P&C Treaty business for UK and Irish ceding companies as a Managing Director. He was appointed a Member of the Executive Board in 2014 with responsibility for Hannover Re’s worldwide Facultative P&C business, UK and Ireland P&C Treaty business, the worldwide Credit, Surety and Political Risk business as well as the worldwide Aviation and Marine business.
Sven is a Non-Executive Director of Argenta Syndicate Management Limited.
Andrew AnnandaleChief Executive Officer, Argenta Holdings LimitedAndrew has spent over 20 years in the Lloyd’s insurance market and has a wide-ranging expertise in running Lloyd's businesses. He began his career as a tax specialist, working for H.M. Inspector of Taxes (now part of HMRC) and two major UK accountancy practices before joining Sedgwick Lloyd’s Underwriting Agents (“Sedgwick”), the forerunner of Argenta Private Capital Limited, a Lloyd’s members’ agency, in 1992 as head of its tax consultancy business. When limited liability structures were introduced to Lloyd’s in 1994, he became Head of Corporate Capital Development and was instrumental in the design of many of these new companies. He became Managing Director of Sedgwick in 2000.
Sedgwick and its sister company, Sackville Syndicate Management Limited (now Argenta Syndicate Management Limited), were acquired by Argenta Holdings plc in 2004. Andrew led the capital raising, designed the structure for the new group and became Group Chief Executive Officer in 2006, a position he still holds. In addition to his Group role, Andrew joined the Board of Argenta Syndicate Management Limited as Managing Director in June 2008, relinquishing his position as Managing Director of Argenta Private Capital Limited at the same time.
Graham AllenChief Financial Officer, Argenta Holdings LimitedGraham qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Ernst & Young in 1990, specialising in both the manufacturing and insurance sectors (including the Lloyd’s market). In 1994, Graham moved into a Lloyd’s managing agency role, where he worked closely with the underwriting teams for several syndicates, dealing with both financial and operational aspects. In 2001 he joined ASML and was appointed Finance Director in 2002.
Ian MaguireExecutive Director, Argenta Holdings LimitedIan has over 27 years of experience in insurance and reinsurance. Since June 2011 Ian has been Active Underwriter of syndicate 2121, having joined the syndicate in 2004. He continues to hold responsibility for the property direct and facultative account and oversees the development of the syndicate’s other, predominantly short tail classes. Ian joined the Board of ASML in July 2012. Prior to joining Argenta, Ian was at Wellington Underwriting where he had responsibility for Wellington’s North American direct property facility business.
John WhiterNon-Executive Director, Argenta Holdings LimitedJohn was appointed as a Non-Executive Director of Argenta Holdings Limited effective 6th September 2017.
John has had a long and successful career in Financial Services. He trained as a Chartered Accountant and spent nearly 20 years at Neville Russell (now Mazars) where he became Senior Partner in 1991. John went on to join Benfield Group (now part of Aon) as Chief Financial Officer, a position he held for 15 years until 2009. He joined the Board of Argenta Syndicate Management Limited in 2009 as Chairman and holds a number of other City-based directorships as well as substantial interests in the charitable sector.
